Hospital group’s focus winning, not making nice
Of course, the reason that MSHA has supported Democratic lawmakers in recent years is because Republican lawmakers – under then Gov. Haley Barbour and while Bryant was lieutenant governor – increased financial obligations from hospitals and made what hospital leaders saw as devastating changes to Medicaid.
Republican lawmakers may want Cameron gone. Bryant may want Cameron gone. But so far, it appears that hospital CEOs are happy with Cameron because he has been fighting their fight.
But whoever came up with MSHA’s strategy on these amendments made a tremendous miscalculation.
