Clarion Ledger catches up to WLBT on medicaid worker qualifications

Some state Medicaid workers, many of them veteran employees, are being asked to validate their credentials to keep their jobs.

Earlier this month, Brenda Scott, the president of the Mississippi Alliance of State Employees, began receiving calls from more than 30 affected workers in the agency, she said.

“I think that’s an alarming number,” she said. “Some of those workers have worked up to 25 years. One employee has been with the state for 36 years.

“What’s coming into question is their qualifications.”

The state Division of Medicaid released a statement saying the reviews are to assure the personnel files are valid, verifiable and up to date.
