Sen.-Elect Hill says she’s interested in education
PICAYUNE — Senate District 40 State Sen.-Elect Angela Burks Hill (R-Picayune), who will be sworn in on Jan. 3 to the state Senate, says her interests lie in education, the reduction and stabilization of insurance rates, and protecting South Mississippi’s rural and municipal water associations.
Hill was elected to the state Senate in the Republican primary runoff on Aug. 23 when she challenged two-term incumbent State Sen. Sid Albritton (R-Picayune). There was no Democratic opposition.
It will be her first time to hold elected office, although she was politically active in recent congressional elections and other local elections before that.
