State GOP Chairman Arnie Hederman says that, barring anything “really strange,” it appears Republicans have captured a majority in the state House for the first time in 140 years.
“I am pretty confident that we are sitting at 62 (of 122), and everything else still undecided at this point would just give us an increase,” Hederman said Wednesday, after Tuesday’s general election. “We still had some issues this morning that had it in question, but those have been cleared up and put back in the win column.”
Some Democratic legislative leaders were holding out hope that a couple of races could still give them a slight majority or a 61 tie. But that appears an extremely long shot.
