Barbour predicts conservatives can unite behind Romney as GOP nominee
Popular Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) on Tuesday acknowledged that conservatives don’t love White House hopeful Mitt Romney, but predicted that if Romney wins the Republican nomination, President Obama will be the key to his conservative support.
“Mitt Romney’s not as conservative as Haley Barbour,” he said on MSNBC. “But he is a heck of a lot more conservative than Barack Obama. And I think if he is our nominee, conservatives will unite behind Mitt Romney, because Barack Obama is the great uniter of conservative Republicans and lots of moderates in the United States.”
