Feds responds to Lt. Gov. Bryant’s Obamacare case
Attorneys for the federal government have answered a lawsuit filed by Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant and 10 other Mississippians challenging the constitutionality of the health care reform law.
The answer denies that the plaintiffs are entitled to any relief in the matter and asserts their claim is barred by a lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
The answer, filed Sept. 12 in U.S. District Court, denies many of the plaintiffs’ claims, but it often argues that large parts of the original lawsuit are not allegations of fact and require no response.
Mississippi Sen. Chris McDaniel, who represents the plaintiffs, said he thinks the defendants are trying to further delay a disposition in the lawsuit.
