CottonMouth tries to go after Simpson, fails to address pay-to-play

By: Magnolia Tribune - September 13, 2011

Mississippi Attorney General hopeful Steve Simpson took issue yesterday with Jim Hood giving BP cases to campaign contributors. Instead of actually looking at the truth of Simpson’s release, the Hood funded liberal blog CottonMouth had this to say about the issue:

As for Hood getting campaign contributions for waiting, that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. No lawyer worth his salt would rather wait to file suit. You would want to do that ASAP. So that’s another part of this that is absurd.

What the post fails to do is address the issue of whether Hood is giving cases to campaign contributors. Also, the BP spill was hugely political; how does CottonMouth know what was being said behind closed doors? Just because filing suit as quickly as possible in a typical case is the SOP, BP was different.
