Chris McDaniel column – We are ‘Under God’
LAUREL — Last week, I presented a small part of our nation’s notable religious history.
Since the article’s publication, however, a question has been raised as to whether the phrase “one nation under God,” as detailed in our Pledge of Allegiance, was originally designed to encompass any and all “gods” that individuals in this country may select to worship.
It is true that our government does not sanction an official religion or church, since the First Amendment forbids such intrusion.
