Barbour to call special election to fill District 8 Senate vacancy
JACKSON – Gov. Haley Barbour will call a special election to fill the District 8 Senate seat left vacant by the recent death of incumbent Jack Gordon.
The Okolona Democrat, who except for one term had held the seat since 1980, died May 7 from a brain tumor.
Laura Hipp, a spokesman for the governor, said Tuesday that Barbour will call a special election and “is still reviewing potential dates.”
