Harper supports fine for BP to aid tourism, business
Mississippi’s 3rd District Rep. Gregg Harper supports a bill introduced by fellow Republican Rep. Jo Bonner of Alabama that would target much of the money to coastal communities for tourism and other industries. Another bill would steer most of the money toward restoring the environment.
“We’re certainly comfortable with Bonner’s approach to it,” Harper said.
Harper said it’s too early to say whether lawmakers will reach a compromise.
