CL – Earmark ban could be political pandering

Banning earmarks will impact Mississippi taxpayers in a significant way. But if the Congress is serious about banning earmarks, then ban them altogether in a binding manner.

If both houses of Congress are willing to ban all earmarks, then so be it. But if any state is to get a single earmark anywhere in this nation, then Mississippi taxpayers deserve a bite at that apple as well.

In 1994, there was a lot of talk about term limits on Capitol Hill. Eventually, that’s all it was – talk. History indicates that the current talk of earmark bans is headed in the same cynical direction.

History indicates this is political pandering of the worst stripe. Time will tell.
