“I’m just ready to do the job that the citizens elected me to do,” said Akillie Malone Oliver, who would become the first African-American district attorney for the three-county district.
But Oliver, 33, can’t take office until Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann certifies the election results.
Certification is expected to come today, according to Hosemann’s office.
“You normally take office immediately (after winning a special election),” Oliver said this week.
