Marcus Dupree was most talented player in Mississippi’s storied football history

That is not an exaggeration. Dupree was 6 feet, 3 inches tall and weighed 235 sculpted pounds. He ran a 9.5 100-yard dash and bench-pressed 400 pounds with ease. And, at that size, he had Gale Sayers-like moves. You watch those film clips and you will see that the biggest kid on the field makes the rest of them look like they are in slow motion.

Said Charles “Tree” McAfee, Dupree’s childhood friend, “Everybody in this community was talking about football on Friday night. In this little town, football was it, and Marcus was the it.”
