Gov. Barbour to host Katrina memorial event on Gulf Coast
JACKSON — Gov. Haley Barbour will host a memorial event commemorating the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the recovery of the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast. The event will be from 3-5 p.m. Aug. 29 on 15th Street in downtown Gulfport, between City Hall and the First United Methodist Church.
It will be a time of reflection and rededication including the Williams Brothers, Paul Overstreet, local musicians, choirs, and community leaders. More details will be announced prior to the celebration.
