Teachers deal with reality of D.C. decisions

Rep. Travis Childers, D-Miss., on Wednesday defended his support a day earlier of a multibillion-dollar bill to aid cash-strapped states, focusing on the education aspects of the legislation as he outlined a five-point education platform at Olive Branch City Park.

About 15 to 20 local educators and other supporters gathered under the shade of a pavilion, while a larger number of sign-toting protesters stood across the road in sweltering heat, as Childers talked about the link between education and jobs.
