JONES TO CONFER ON INSURANCE REFORMS
AT NATIONAL MEETING OF REGULATORS
Federal Financial Reform and Health Care Implementation On Agenda
Jackson, Miss. (Aug. 10, 2010) – Representative Brandon Jones will join
dozens of other lawmakers in Seattle, WA this week at a meeting of the
National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) to consult with
regulators across the country on insurance issues that impact the Magnolia
State. Major issues expected to be addressed include sweeping changes in
providing health care and the impact of the Wall Street reform legislation.
The Seattle meeting is one of three national meetings that the NAIC holds
annually. The NAIC welcomes Representative Jones to join in the dialogue on
a broad range of public policies impacting insurance consumers.
Representative Jones has been carefully following federal policy
developments in health care and financial services and proposals to
implement new laws in the state.
“This forum is a great opportunity to work with our state regulators and
experts on insurance issues, as well as weigh in on the legislative
priorities for our state,” said Jones. “It is critical that we work with
state insurance regulators to protect safeguards for policyholders through
this established, highly coordinated network of state-based supervision.”
State insurance regulators use the forum to consult with their legislative
colleagues to continue to build on the successful foundation of state
insurance regulation. In addition to health care and financial services
reform, some of the topics that will be discussed include producer
licensing, surplus lines and market conduct.
