Senior Bowl Dish: Pike outplays Tebow; Cody struggles; Schofield hurts knee

MOBILE, Ala. — About five times as many general managers, coaches and scouts than usual attended the South team’s practice Monday at the Senior Bowl. Everybody wanted to see how Florida QB Tim Tebow would look dropping back from center. My team of former NFL scouts and I were on hand for both the North and South practices Monday afternoon and walked away with a notebook full of analysis:

SOUTH SQUAD
• Tebow showed great poise and confidence and good passing mechanics and accuracy during individual drills. Once team drills began, however, he struggled to control the snap, lost confidence and threw four or five bad passes in a row. He then began to aim passes, which further hindered his accuracy. When he had the opportunity to pull the ball down and run, he flicked the ball into the face of Alabama CB Javier Arenas.

• Alabama DT Terrence Cody impressed in only one play. Otherwise, he was pushed around and a non-factor.

NORTH SQUAD

• Cincinnati QB Tony Pike threw a few bad passes but showed a strong enough arm to make all the necessary NFL throws. He definitely looked like an NFL quarterback Monday and really could help himself if able to play at this level all week.

• Wisconsin DE/OLB O’Brien Schofield seriously injured his left knee on the second rep of one-on-one drills. Monday night, Schofield told the National Football Post that he had suffered a torn ACL.
