CL on what happened Tuesday at the capital
Today is the deadline for making requests for general bills and the deadline for constitutional amendments to be drafted.
Even though lawmakers have had to deal with weather issues several days since the beginning of session, officials said the deadlines cannot be changed.
Lawmakers continued to work Tuesday despite being without water at the Capitol. Portable bathrooms were installed near the entrance of the Capitol for a second day.
“We plan to just continue to push on,” said House Speaker Billy McCoy, D-Rienzi. “We have deadlines to meet, and we’re going to have to meet them.”
The Capitol could go without water even longer than other areas of the city though, because of its position on top of a hill.
“It’s harder to get that water pressure,” said Clerk of the House Don Richardson.
