Snead’s still No. 1, but will get a little competition in the spring

OXFORD — After last season’s Cotton Bowl victory over Texas Tech, which included a then career-high 292 passing yards from quarterback Jevan Snead, there was absolutely no question who the starting quarterback was coming into the spring practices that followed.

But after this year’s Cotton Bowl victory against Oklahoma State, there’s a much different feel about the quarterback position.

Sans a surprise decision to declare for the NFL Draft, Snead will be back for his senior season in 2010. But after throwing 20 interceptions over 13 games (including three against Oklahoma State), there’s not nearly as much excitement.
