al.com – Global warming not mankind’s fault, says Wicker
Calling the science “flimsy,” Mississippi U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Tupelo, says the United States should not commit to a pact to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at this month’s international conference in Denmark.
While heat-trapping carbon dioxide is building up in the earth’s atmosphere, “it has not been compellingly proven that mankind is responsible,” Wicker wrote in a column released Friday.
President Barack Obama “should not commit the U.S. to a pact that is neither predicated on proven science nor has the necessary backing of Congress.” Obama plans to join some 15,000 other participants at the Copenhagen conference later this week.
