Two SEC Contenders, One Golden Ticket
A signature showdown between rivals can define an entire college football season. Michigan-Ohio State and Oklahoma-Nebraska were that game in the 1970s. In the mid-1980s it was Miami-Oklahoma, and in the late 1980s early ’90s, Miami-Florida State.
Fans have searched in vain for such a game in recent years. There have been a few great one-off match-ups, like the 2006 Texas-Southern California Rose Bowl, but no one match-up that annually defines the season.
