Former Gators QB John Reaves, Lane Kiffin’s father-in-law, fights drug and alcohol addiction

The message left on his cell phone is nearly four months old, but John Reaves still has it, still plays it and still uses it as a reminder of where he was, where he is and where he needs to stay.
“I think you’ll recognize it,” Reaves said.
With a push of a button comes the unmistakable voice of Steve Spurrier.
John Bob Reaves! Glad to hear you’re in rehab. Yeah, you and booze, they don’t go together. When you’re cleaned up, you’re a helluva guy. Make up your mind to stay that way, OK? We’ll talk to ya!
Reaves smiled. At 59, he’s a physical wreck and financial mess, but life is better than it’s been in nearly a decade.
