The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit against Mississippi to halt religious messages that are part of abstinence-only sex-education programs.

The 2009 “abstinence-only-until-marriage” conference opened in with a prayer: “Dear Lord, I just thank you for this morning. I thank you for this gathering that’s here today, Lord. You’re so wonderful that you can bring this together. Lord, I pray this in your precious name, the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”

One of the speakers was Judge John N. Hudson, who made a presentation on the Ten Commandments. OneNewsNow talked with another speaker, Mississippi Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant.

“I attended an abstinence rally with thousands of youths who were excited about abstinence and about trying to bring down the teenage birth rate in the state of Mississippi, to try to stop children from having children, and it was working,” he said.
