Murder trial delayed due to African adventure
OXFORD — A capital murder trial slated to begin Monday for the man accused of slaying University of Mississippi track standout Rodney Lockhart was delayed again today because the defendant’s lawyer is going to Africa.
Jackson attorney Kevin Camp, who is representing Christian Bonner, said this morning there wasn’t a new date set for his client’s trial.
After a meeting behind closed doors, Assistant District Attorney Tom Levidiotis told The Clarion-Ledger, “(Mr. Camp) has a safari trip to Africa, and we need to work around his schedule.”
Camp confirmed he was leaving the country. The trial was delayed in October and January because Camp was fulfilling his duty as Judge Advocate General for the armed forces.
