More witness tampering claims in Melton trial
Jackson Mayor Frank Melton is on trial in federal court for violating the civil rights of the duplex’s owner and tenant.
His attorney says an FBI agent had impermissible contact with prosecution witness Michael Taylor during a short recess Tuesday morning.
Taylor, who participated in the sledgehammer attack, denied having a conversation with the agent. But the agent confirms he escorted Taylor to smoke a cigarette and says the two spoke of non-trial matters. The judge is reviewing surveillance tapes.
