Governor’s new aide to make $80,000
Dan Turner, a native of Philadelphia, Miss., succeeded Pete Smith as press secretary this week. Smith left to take a job as spokesman for the state Department of Education.
Turner’s annual salary is $80,000, according to information provided to The Clarion-Ledger through a public records request. Smith had been paid $63,200.
Smith is now making $84,000 a year, according to the Department of Education.
