During these difficult economic times, I find myself watching numbers more closely.
I think we all probably pay attention to the economic statistics that a few months ago were just so much small type on the business page or background noise on television and radio.
We joke about not looking at our 401(k) retirement accounts, but we peek and find our fears are confirmed.
We watch the price of oil, the price of gold, the Dow and the S&P.
Our stories about tax collections and budget estimates now are moving from the back pages to the front pages.
The numbers don’t look good. The numbers are bad – and getting worse.
