Ole Miss’ Pete Boone defends Rebels coach

Ole Miss athletic director Pete Boone came to men’s basketball coach Andy Kennedy’s defense after Kennedy was arrested on a first-degree misdemeanor assault charge following an incident with a Cincinnati cab driver early Thursday morning.
Kennedy, 40, would coach the Rebels’ game with ninth-ranked Louisville on Thursday night, which was part of the SEC/Big East Invitational at the U.S. Bank Arena. According to the police report, the Rebels’ third-year coach had an altercation with Mohamed Ould Jiddou, a 25-year-old native of Mauritania, a country in northwest Africa, and was arrested at about 1:15 a.m. Thursday.
