Newly elected U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker of Tupelo seems unfazed that his Republican Party will be more in the minority in the 2009 Congress.
While Wicker won a convincing special election victory over Democrat Ronnie Musgrove on Tuesday, Republicans across the country were not so lucky.
The Republicans lost at least six seats in the Senate and more than 20 in the House, not to mention the presidency.
“The times when we suit up in our partisan armor are the newsworthy events,” Wicker said. “Those are the times that get the most coverage from the news media…
“There are also plenty of instances of bipartisanship. Bipartisanship goes on largely unreported every day in the House and Senate. I expect that to continue.”
