Officials working to alleviate Election Day problems

Mississippians should expect long lines when they head to the polls to vote in presidential and other races Nov. 4, but election organizers statewide are working overtime to make sure there are no more inconveniences.

They’re training more poll workers, notifying residents of changes in voting locations and double-checking ballots and machines as they prepare for the record turnout that is expected in less than three weeks.

Circuit clerks across Mississippi are working longer hours to handle large numbers of absentee ballots and plug thousands of newly registered voters into election systems. Secretary of state employees will be sent to various counties to help on Election Day.
