Conference Call: SEC’s best is even better

Confirmation of the status quo was the big news from the big weekend in the Southeastern Conference.
By passing major tests Saturday on the road, Georgia, Florida and LSU — the SEC’s top three ranked teams — told us something we already knew. They’re good, each probably national-championship good, at least from the perspective of late September.

?The most impressive of the triumphs: LSU at Auburn as quarterback Jarrett Lee took over the game in the second half. He’s the guy now, and the Tigers are the West Division favorites.

•RISING: Best conference team in Tennessee might be in Nashville. Vanderbilt improved to 4-0 for the second time in 24 years and is 2-0 in SEC play after winning at Mississippi. The Commodores are outscoring opponents 51-10 in the second half this season.
