Building fitting tribute’ for MSU’s Templeton

STARKVILLE – Larry Templeton has devoted his life and career to Mississippi State, and that won’t be forgotten even after he’s gone.

Templeton, who recenty resigned as athletics director after 21 years on the job, is getting his name on a building. But it’s more than just an honor; to Templeton, it’s the fulfillment of a need he recognized.
The Larry Templeton Academic Center, tentatively scheduled to open the first week of October, will be a place where MSU’s student-athletes can gain academic assistance. The $10 million facility is located within easy walking distance of State’s athletic facilities.
“It was the one facility that we didn’t have when we wrapped up this tenure that I wanted to make sure we got,” Templeton said.
Templeton, now the AD emeritus, will have an office in the building. He won’t have day-to-day duties, but he said he’ll “do whatever I’m asked to assist the university.”
