Jackson Mayor Frank Melton’s summer youth employment program and former Police Chief Shirlene Anderson’s new position are in line to be axed under a 2008-2009 spending plan proposed Friday for the city.
But before the full council can have a chance to vote on the budget, Melton already is threatening to veto any plan he doesn’t like.
“The administration will veto anything we think is inappropriate as far as cuts,” Melton said.
