Powe on hold as Slive waits on school … and vice versa
HOOVER, ALA. — In a cryptic response to questions, Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive said that he’s still waiting on communication from Ole Miss before making a final decision on the eligibility of defensive tackle Jerrell Powe.
“Let me put it this way,” said Slive, speaking at the SEC Media Days at The Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover. “Ole Miss has been very diligent in dealing with that issue. When they deem it appropriate to have further discussions, we’ll have further discussions.”
Ole Miss officials declined comment on Wednesday, but have indicated previously that they were simply waiting on a decision from the SEC office. But after Slive’s comments, it’s hard to decipher who’s holding up the process.
