At the opening press conference of 2008 Saints training camp at Millsaps, team vice president and general manager Mickey Loomis had some good news and some bad news —well not that bad — to report.
The Saints signed star wideout Marques Colston to a three-year extension. The deal locks up the former seventh rounder out of Hofstra through 2011.
“It’s really a tribute to how well Marques has done for us,” said Loomis. “I think he’s been the most productive wide receiver in Saints history through two seasons. So, it’s a special day for us and for Marques as well.”
On the flip side, the Saints are still at a standstill with first-round pick Sedrick Ellis and second-rounder Tracy Porter.
