Childers, on Iraq trip, visits Miss. soldiers

Rep. Travis Childers is making his first trip to the Mideast.

Childers, a Democrat who represents Mississippi’s 1st District, gave a brief telephone interview Sunday from Iraq, where he had been visiting Mississippi troops.

He said experiencing the conditions under which soldiers served gave him a greater appreciation of them.

Childers will participate in various national security briefings and will return to the United States on Friday.
