Mal Moore last of a dying breed

One by one, the dinosaurs have been disappearing from the Southeastern Conference. There’s only one left in an AD’s chair.
“I have to admit,” Mal Moore said a week ago, before Jimmy Johns’ mug shot became the face of the Alabama program. “I’m getting old.”
At 68, he’s already there, but he’s in no hurry to quit working full-time to join his old friends as a consultant/retiree.
Before heading to the golf course early Thursday afternoon, Broyles joked that a consultant “works from 11 to 1 with an hour off for lunch.”
Nice work at the end of a distinguished career, if you can get it. Broyles and Moore stay in touch, but the Arkansas legend hasn’t suggested that the Alabama AD get out of the rat race.
“I think he’s done an excellent job,” Broyles said. “He’s still successful at it. Why should he stop doing it?”
