A long-term funding solution for Medicaid remained unresolved today after a meeting between Gov. Haley Barbour and legislative leaders failed to produce results.
Their meeting convened a week before lawmakers resume a special session to address the issue. The session, now in a three-week recess, has cost taxpayers $350,000 so far.
Barbour is not budging from his support of a plan to tax hospitals. House Democrats aren’t backing off their proposal to hike cigarette taxes.
