The sagging pants fad is getting the attention of Jackson city leaders.
Tuesday night Ward three Councilman Kenneth Stokes introduced an ordinance that would make it illegal to wear pants below the waistline.
Stokes said the exposure of underwear is offensive and disrespectful. He suggests that violators be fined $25 dollars but serve no jail time.
Council members Marshand Crisler and Charles Tillman spoke out in support of the measure. The ordinance was submitted to the planning committee.
Mayor Frank Melton said he would issue an executive order to expedite passage.
