The House took up dozens of appropriations bills Tuesday and approved money for Coast Coliseum and the Port of Gulfport, among others.
The Legislature has begun the process of adopting a budget for next year. Government-watchers expect much disagreement among lawmakers this year over where to cut funding as experts believe the state will have less revenue to work with than in recent years. Gov. Haley Barbour had asked the heads of state agencies to trim their budgets earlier this year.
Tuesday the House approved $67.9 million in appropriations for the port, which includes $57.6 million in capital outlay funds, $1.3 million for new equipment and $38,000 for vehicles.
