U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings will speak at the Mississippi Board of Education meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday in the fourth floor board room in the Central High School Building, 359 N. West St. in Jackson.
She will discuss the No Child Left Behind Act and will announce a school improvement grant award.
The board meeting, which starts at 8 a.m., is open to the public. Included on the board’s agenda is discussion about the state legislative session and possibly allowing students to earn high school credit for taking geometry and foreign languages in middle school.
