Miss. Senators vote no for SCHIP

By: Magnolia Tribune - October 8, 2007

The Commercial Dispatch, 10/6/7

Mississippi congressmen against a bill to fund the expansion of federal children’s health insurance are being urged to change their minds and vote to override President Bush.

Five of Mississippi’s six members of Congress voted against the bill that passed the U.S. Senate and House last month. Bush on Wednesday vetoed the measure. The House will attempt to override him in two weeks.

The Mississippi Health Advocacy Program – an affiliate of the Sisters of Mercy Ministries – is urging the public to persuade the congressmen to vote for a veto override, which is set in the House of Representatives to take place Oct. 18.
