If Democrats don’t find unity, Republicans will rule in Miss.

By: Magnolia Tribune - September 6, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger Editorial, 9/6/7

If Mississippi Democrats don’t stand up and decide on a unified course for themselves soon, they’ll be playing second fiddle to Republicans for generations.

It’s not abnormal for there to be pulls, tugs, tensions and conflicts inside any group, small or large. But what Democrats now face in this state is on a different scale entirely. It’s not issue-oriented. It’s factional and, as a consequence of history, loaded with racial invective.
