Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour stood shoulder to shoulder Tuesday and played up their similarities as leaders who dealt with two of the nation’s largest disasters.
Barbour is overseeing Mississippi’s recovery from the massive destruction of Hurricane Katrina, which swept ashore on Aug. 29, 2005. And Giuliani was mayor of New York during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
But neither gave a direct answer to questions about whether they might become running mates on the national Republican ticket in 2008.
