The third-place finisher in the hotly contested Hinds County district attorney’s race says she has not decided whether she will endorse a candidate in the Democratic runoff.

Michele Purvis trailed incumbent Faye Peterson and Robert Shuler Smith in the Democratic primary Tuesday.

Peterson said she believes Tuesday’s election was impacted some by the prosecution of the case against Jackson Mayor Frank Melton and his two bodyguards on felony charges relating to damage done to a duplex that Melton referred to as a drug house. A Hinds County jury acquitted all three in April.
