.S. District Court Judge Henry T. Wingate is expected to sentence Paul Minor and two former state court judges to federal prison today on multiple bribery and fraud charges.
The defendants lost their argument Thursday to be sentenced based on a lesser crime that would have involved the offering of a gratuity rather than a bribe. Minor’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, argued that federal prosecutors failed to prove Minor secured loans for the judges in exchange for specific favors.
