Jesse Sutton is a big man in Jackson politics. Sutton, pastor of New McRaven Hill Baptist Church in southwest Jackson, is putting his weight behind District Attorney Faye Peterson’s re-election.
In a Peterson campaign commercial for radio, Sutton, in explaining his support for Peterson, sounds as if he is taking a shot at Mayor Frank Melton.
“I am not trying to do anything with Frank Melton,” Sutton said Monday, in a rare diplomatic tone. “I am just supporting Faye Peterson. I know what she has done and what she is trying to do, under some difficult circumstances.”
