Other than its 7 percent tax on general sales, Mississippi’s tax rates rank favorably with other states. Here, it’s not how high each tax is – but how many there are.
Gov. Haley Barbour, in the early days of campaigning for a second term, said if re-elected he’d entertain a comprehensive study and perhaps a makeover of this state’s taxing structure.
A betting man would wager that’s just talk, but let’s look at the big picture anyway.
