Cochran, Lott split on immigration vote

Mississippi’s senators split today on the Senate’s 64-35 vote to jump-start a stalled immigration measure to grant legal status of millions of unlawful immigrants.

U.S. Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., voted to resume Senate debate on the bill. Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., voted against reconsidering the bill.
