The three candidates for lieutenant governor, all longtime veterans of state government, say they want ethics reform in the Legislature and government records and meetings more open to the public and media.
“I do think, generally, that sunshine is an antiseptic,” said state Sen. Charlie Ross, a Republican candidate for the top job in the Senate. “But we have to strike the right balance. Police incident reports should be public record. But ongoing police investigations should not be, because it could jeopardize the investigation.”
